How to Check a Source Link Before Trusting the Row

A source link is useful when it takes you to the page you expected, still matches the exact item and option, and exposes details that can answer your question. Being “original” or “raw” does not make a link automatically reliable.

Quick answer

Check five things: destination domain and page type, item identity, exact option, current visible details, and whether the page answers the question that justified the click. Stop when a redirect, login request, mismatch, or missing context makes the destination different from what the row promised.

Know the page type

What should you expect after opening the link?

The source name helps you predict the page and the details it may contain.

Weidian

Expect an item or shop page. Confirm the product, selected option, visible listing state, and whether the page still matches the saved row.

Taobao

Look for variation tables, size charts, included pieces, option pricing, and other listing details tied to the exact choice.

Yupoo

Expect an image album. Check whether the album and any linked purchase path describe the same item.

1688

Expect supplier-style listings. Confirm unit pricing, minimum quantity, variations, and package details.

Follow the destination

The five-link check

Review in this order. Early mismatches save you from spending time on later details.

1. Domain and page type

Confirm the domain and whether the page is a product, shop, album, category, search result, guide, or converter handoff.

2. Item identity

The product type, main features, visible labels, and image set should still match the spreadsheet row.

3. Exact option

Check color, size, bundle, quantity, condition, and included pieces. A single page can contain very different options.

4. Current visible details

Look for measurements, photos, option state, source wording, price basis, package details, and last-updated clues where available.

5. Question answered

Return to the reason for clicking. If you needed a size chart and found only a promotional image, the link did not complete the task.

Record the gap

Write the one missing detail. If a page only “almost matches,” do not use it to support a more specific claim in the row.

Different sources, different jobs

Short links hide context

Pause when the path changes

  • Compare the final domain with the domain you expected.
  • Notice whether the page became a login, app-install, search, or unrelated product screen.
  • Do not assume a redirect is harmless because the first link looked familiar.
  • Avoid entering account, address, payment, tracking, or other private information into an unexpected page.
  • If the destination cannot be explained, return to a known page or remove the row for now.

Converters change format, not truth

A reformatted link is not a verified item

A converter may make a source URL easier for another service to read. An original or raw URL can expose more context, but it cannot establish product quality, seller reliability, option accuracy, price, shipping eligibility, or transaction safety.

Keep the original clue and the final destination in your notes. This makes it easier to spot when a handoff leads somewhere different later.

Keep claims with their owner

Use the right source for the question

A spreadsheet can organize discovery. It cannot replace current listing details or official account and transaction information.

Keep a simple record

A source-link note template

Spreadsheet label: ______

Expected page type: ______

Final domain and page type: ______

Exact item and option match: yes / no / unclear

Useful details found: ______

Mismatch or missing detail: ______

Source-link stop rules

Return only when you can explain the destination and why it belongs to the row.

Unexpected destination

The final domain or page type does not match the expected source and the redirect is not clearly explained.

Item or option mismatch

The images, product type, color, size, bundle, quantity, or included pieces do not match the saved row.

Unexpected information request

The page asks for login, payment, address, account, download, or other information before the destination can be verified.
